Actually, many of the stories are interesting, but the glossy nature of the writing leaves you without any in depth historic context of either the events these men experience, or even how their actions may have shaped the future – in fact, the book often reads as a sort of “Greatest Generation” comic book. True American Heroes I never gave much thought about the significance of any one graduating class from any university to American history so this has really opened my eyes to further exploration. What this class from West Point did greatly contributed not only to successes in WWII but also to Korea, Vietnam, science, space exploration, military organization, tactics, and strategic thinking. Their courage and sacrifices were considerable. We owe them much and this book deserv.
