DESCRIPTION:

Battle Studies is a classic military treatise, written by a colonel in the French Army who was killed in 1870 in the Franco-Prussian War.

Dated Military Theory Pat R. Ogrady As an amateur military historian I enjoyed this book. I've always been dumbfounded as to the logic of 18/19th century battle tactics (I mean, how stupid is it to wear a bright red coat and slowly march towards an enemy who is pointing a very scary gun in your direction). Well, this book explains exactly why they did that. I think it's possible to understand some of the theories as to why they did those mass charges during WW1. "Nice job Mr" according to Amazon Customer. I had a hard time putting this book down. Nice job Mr. ! Very informative and straight to the point.. Basic Military History Read John Hopkins This is not (or was not for me) an easy read. Having said that the book delves into the necessity for a consideration of "moral" in an army. I do not believe that maral will always win the day but it can (and I believe does) make a difference.
