DESCRIPTION:

Anxiety only becomes a problem when it is prolonged and starts to interfere with the normal expected daily activities of the child or teenager. Normal anxiety responds to comfort and reassurance; this is not true with clinical anxiety. This book is dedicated to all of those parents who have suffered through temper tantrums, mood swings, shouting matches, pouting, and arguments with their children. However, anxiety is not always a pathological process. Every child or teenager experiences some degree of anxiety as part of their normal social and emotional development. The same feeling occurs naturally in association

There is a great deal of clinical information in this book I guess I didn't really think that there is normal anxiety versus diagnosed anxiety. The exercises to use with your children with "normal" anxiety are insightful and certainly practical. There is a great deal of clinical information in this book, yet the Tips for Parents are great. Thanks, Dr. Travis for another book in your Living Well Series. My mother should have read this I wish my mother would have read this when we were all kids. This book is filled with information about how to spot an anxious child and what to do about it. The hints for parents are great and the ideas of what a parent can do at home along with consulting and working with professionals are amazing. This book is a keeper on my shelf.. Must Read for Parents I hope the parents that I see at the grocery store struggling with the bratty seven or eight year olds get a chance to read this. Parents don't have to suffer anymore--then can seek professional help and make an at-home action plan. Thank you Dr. Travis
