Leslie Pyle said Beautiful Message, Beautiful Book. I just read this to a group of 6 and 7 year olds and was delighted with the book. Not only is it a sweet story that with simplicity and directness conveys a huge message, but it is visually exciting. The children all loved it and immediately responded to it. After I finished reading I asked them what they thought the story meant. Hands immediately went up. First I heard that "All flowers are beautiful no matter how they start out". Then a second child immediately said, "But it is really talking about humans". And then another added, "Its how we're all born". I am not a teacher, but I . Polly said THIS IS A FANTASTIC BOOK! Shocked at first, the daisies eventually come to see that Pointy's differences only add to the beauty of their garden. He is told to work hard so that he can become like all the other daisies, but even though he tries to conform, he cannot be something he isn't.
